A photographer’s favorite frame
When a professional photographer chooses Wallie for her own home, that says something. Dawn walks through why the e-ink display, the app, and the simplicity won her over.
View on Instagram →The hybrid gallery wall
My favorite part about this gallery wall is that by adding a Wallie I can update it in seconds. You probably didn’t even notice, but the walnut frame uses e-ink to display photos straight from my phone — no glow or blue light, just calm, timeless art. I only have to charge it about once a year.

I gave one to my grandma for Christmas. Now all the memories we just had in our texts live on her walls — and we can connect from states away. It turns your photos into something that feels like real art, and it still fits in with her collection. Which is such a win for me.

Traveling nonstop during Daphne’s first couple years, the mom guilt around family photos was real. Wallie let me put our favorite candid moments and milestones up on the wall — no scheduling a shoot, no printing, no guilt.

One frame per child
I could not stand the thought of making them share. So I got three frames, one for each of them. When this solution crossed my path I jumped at it — no more collecting photos, printing photos, changing out frames. It gave me the best of all worlds.
View on Instagram →Relive the trip from your mantle
It looks like a beautiful and timeless Polaroid, it has no cords, and I get to relive my travel memories as if I’m actually there again. Sleek and aesthetic — no one will ever know it’s digital. I also love that you can swap photos any time you want from your phone.

Under the hood
Common questions
How is this different from a digital photo frame?
Most digital frames use LCD or LED screens that glow like a tablet. Wallie uses E Ink — the same technology as a Kindle — so it reflects light like real paper. No backlight, no blue light, no screen glare. It looks like a printed photo.
How long does the battery actually last?
About a year with typical use. E Ink only draws power when the image changes — once it's displaying a photo, it uses zero energy. Recharge with the included USB-C cable in a few hours.
Does it need WiFi all the time?
Only when you're sending new photos. Once an image is on the frame, it stays — no internet required. You can also load photos over USB if you prefer fully offline.
Can multiple people add photos?
Yes. The Wallie app supports family sharing — invite anyone to contribute to a frame's album. Great for grandparents who want photos from the whole family without asking.
Is there a monthly subscription?
No. The app, cloud sync, and all core features are free forever — you buy the frame and everything works. Down the road we may offer optional enhancements and restoration features such as AI auto-enhance or restore as a paid add-on due to the service costs to provide such features, but the frame and app will always work without them.
What if I don't love it?
60-day return window, no questions asked. Free shipping both ways in the US. We also include a 1-year warranty covering any manufacturing defects.
How do I hang it?
Everything's included: drywall mounts, a bubble level, and a shelf stand. Works portrait or landscape. Most people have it on the wall in under 5 minutes.
What sizes and finishes are available?
The 13″ Wallie is named for the display: a 13″ diagonal e-ink screen in a handcrafted hardwood frame about 12×15″ on the wall. Round or square, four wood finishes: Walnut, White Oak, Black, and White. Real hardwood, final assembly in Columbus, OH.
Portrait or landscape?
Both. You choose portrait or landscape in the app, and the photo fills the frame with a center crop. Want a different fit? AI-assisted fill helps extend the edges so nothing important gets cut.
Can the battery be replaced?
Yes. The battery is user-replaceable, and a single charge lasts about a year. Even without replacing it, the battery can extend to 10+ years of normal use. Wallie is designed to live on your wall for a very long time.
How long will the display last?
The E Ink display is rated for over 1 million refreshes. At one photo change per day, that's roughly 2,700 years. Even refreshing every hour, the display will outlast the house. This is not a disposable gadget — it's built for decades.
